Why do I need a Flat Floor?
As all experienced Warehouse Managers know the floor is the most important part of a Logistics Facility. A flat floor which meets the exact requirements of the Storage System and MHE – especially for Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) Warehouses will increase pallet throughout, substantially reduce maintenance costs for the MHE and provide a good, safe working environment. A Flat Floor will give you long term dividends! Link to Face document – Static Lean table?
Which Floor Flatness Specification do I need to apply?
CoGri Korea has experience constructing and upgrading floors to the TR-34 (UK, Europe and Asia), DIN (Germany and parts of Europe) or the ACI & ASTM (USA) specifications. However for ease of use and understanding the CoGri Group strongly recommends the use of TR-34 and has been instrumental in introducing this specification to Asia since 1993. The exact specification depends on whether the Floor is (a) Free Movement Link to TR-34 Table 4.2 – which means the MHE can move in any direction or (b) Defined Movement Link to TR-34 Table 4.3 – VNA Aisles or drive-in racking. The Floor Classification required should be selected based on the lift height of the MHE.
How can I be sure that the floor meets the required Performance Specification?
Simple, engage a Specialist Floor Testing company! TR-34 gives clear guidance on the test procedure and recommended instruments for surveys. Hi-Tech Digital equipment is available for accurate and continuous floor surveys. If you are paying a premium for a flat floor, surely engaging a Specialist Testing company to ensure you are getting what you pay for makes sense. Floor surveys are not expensive and will give you peace of mind! You can find more information at

What are the benefits of Steel Fibres and can they really prevent cracking?
Whilst it is true that the use of Steel Fibres in concrete slabs provide benefits in ease of Construction, they provide no increase in Flexural Tensile Strength as defined by the load capacity at first crack. However they do give significant increases in toughness after first crack occurs. So¡¦ No! Steel Fibres cannot prevent Shrinkage Cracks occurring but do control crack widths better than Steel Fabric. The downside is cost and increased risks of some common defects associated with Jointed SOG¡¯s. The most tanglible benefits of Steel Fibres are obtained from use with Joint Free SOG¡¯s and Steel Fibre Reinforced Slab on Piles not typical Jointed SOG¡¯s .
Do I really need a Dry Shake Hardener?
Yes unless you want Steel Fibres exposed at the slab surface. And yes if you a want a coloured surface, or the highest possible Abrasion Resistance which is not normally required in warehouses. The concrete mix design and consistency is critical to minimise the risk of delamination and CoGri Korea strongly recommends the use of an Automated Topping Spreader for application. If the Client decides he does not want the additional expense of a Dry Shake then there are ways to minimise the number of exposed Fibres at the surface but no honest Flooring Contractor is going to guarantee this!
